  • ALO7 provides blended learning to help your students review the lesson they have learned in the classroom.
  • The school will reserve tutoring classes from you, and they usually book twelve weeks at a time. They rarely cancel any classes, unlike the tutoring sessions booked by parents.
  • You will be using the advanced ALO7 platform, and there are many interactive functions planned in it, making the tutoring sessions more engaging than previous Zoom classes. (Sometimes Zoom cannot be used due to the restriction in China)
  • ALO7 has an excellent support system for teachers. New tutors can generate about $18 per hour, and senior tutors will earn about $20 per hour. The payment will increase automatically when you reach a certain number of classes.

The Process of Interview in ALO7

  1. Register in the Teacher Portal and Submit the Application

The process of the teacher application in ALO7 is relatively easy. First of all, you need to create an account on the portal, and you have to fill out the form. Then, you can proceed to the interview step.

  • Application

Submit your resume in the portal (PDF format) along with voice recording and optional cover letter.

  • Interview and Class Demonstration (50 minutes)

You will get an email from ALO7 to reserve an online interview, and it will be scheduled between you and a recruiter from the company. During the interview, you will be demanded to do an online class demonstration, and you also can ask the recruiter any questions about the position in ALO7.

  • Self-Study and Online Quiz

After the interview, you will be asked to watch self-study videos, and then you need to answer an online quiz. If you do not pass the quiz, you have to revise the incorrect answers and review the study materials to repeat the quiz.

  • Contract Signing and Submission of Documents

Once you have successfully passed the interview and quiz, you will be offered an Independent Contractor Agreement to sign, and you need to submit it along with other documents. After submitting these documents, you are officially hired to be a teacher in ALO7.

  • Procedures for New Employees and Orientation Session

You will receive an email to reserve an online session once you get the job as a teacher in ALO7. The orientation session will be arranged with a team member from ALO7 to assist you in being well-prepared before you enter your first class.

  • Get Ready to be a Tutor

After completing the processes above, you will be ready to join the team of ALO7 as online English tutors.

  1. How to Reserve an Interview?

The company will send you an email to reserve an online interview. It will be arranged between you and a recruiter from ALO7.

  1. The Process of Interview

Once the company approves your application, you will be able to reserve an online interview. Here are three main steps of the interview process:

  • Interview
  • Training
  • Class Demonstration

The first interview will be thirty minutes long between the applicant and a recruiter. The recruiter will get to know you better and provide more information for you about the company and the position. All of the recruiters from ALO7 are current tutors, and you will get the chance to ask them any questions about the position or their experience in working as an ALO7 tutor. The interview will be conducted through Zoom.

There are some things that you should expect during the interview and class demonstration, such as:

  • Greeting and overview
  • Introduction of the company
  • Questions about teaching experience or education background
  • Questions about personality
  • Job expectation: survey time availability and stability, satisfied with the check-in and payment policy from the company
  • Class demonstration: two times
  • Quiz session
  1. Self-Study and Online Quiz

Once you finish the interview sessions, you must complete a few training sessions, including watching self-study videos and then answering an online quiz. If you do not pass the quiz, you have to revise the incorrect answers and review the study materials to repeat the quiz.

After the training process, you need to complete the teacher profile and a written introduction, a profile picture, a thirty seconds video, and create a WeChat account for later communication.

  1. Class Demonstration

When the training processes are completed, you will begin to prepare for a class demonstration. Some sample lessons can be used for later teaching demonstrations. You will be acting with the recruiter, who will pretend to be a student or multiple students. (The candidate will use several names to direct questions or instructions to each ‘student’).

  1. Sign the Contract and Get Ready to Teach!

After completing the interview and quiz, you will be given an Independent Contractor Agreement to sign, and you need to submit it along with other documents. After submitting these documents, you are officially a tutor in ALO7.

  1. Procedures for New Employees and Orientation Session

You will receive an email to reserve an online session once you get the job as a teacher in ALO7. The orientation session will be arranged with a team member from ALO7 to assist you in being well-prepared before you enter your first class. Indemnification

Hourly rate: $15 to $22 per hour.

Every 25-minute class charges $7.50 per class or every fifty class charges $15 per class as a basic price. Most programs apply the basic rate.

The Top Schools Program where several tutors from the top 100 universities in the United States or another country like United Kingdom, Canada and Australia are invited to monitor the special program. The basic price for every fifty minutes class is $20, including the additional incentive payment.

Additional Incentive Payment:

Starting with classes in July 2018, additional incentive payments for one to three classes will be increased. The current price is up to 5% to 13.3%, and the new incentives will be increased from 5% to 25%.

Each class can be paid up to $8.50 per 25-minute session before classes on July 2018, and it will be paid up to $9.375 afterward.

We might offer freelance opportunities with ALO7 for excellent tutors who have extra time during the day, such as writing, presentation, and curriculum development.

If the teacher is willing to take on extra projects, they will also provide other freelance chances like recruiters or trainers to highly qualified tutors.

Payment Method

  • Direct Deposit via VEEM

VEEM is a licensed business with the United States Department of Treasury & BBB. It is supported by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. We cooperate with VEEM to make direct deposits for the US and Non-US bank accounts. 

  • PayPal

PayPal is utilized as a secondary payment method. If you earned less than the tutoring’s minimum transaction, your payment would be processed via PayPal. There is a fee charged for 2% from PayPal, and ALO7 does not control the exchange price.

  • Minimum System Necessities:

Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and MAC OS 10.10x.

CPU: 6th generation Intel i3 or newer or i3 with 3GHz core or above / Intel i5 with 1.8GHz core or above / Intel i7.

  • Memory

At least 4GB RAM.

  • Network

At least 4Mbps / 8Mbps (upload or download) and Ping ≤100

  • Monitor Resolution

1024 X 768 or higher.

  • Equipment

HD external camera or integrated camera (most computers and laptops come with cameras) and a headset with a microphone.

  • Internet Speed

Stable internet with at least 4Mbps / 8Mbps (upload or download) and Ping ≤100.

  • Browser

Google Chrome version 49 or above and silence with good lighting.
